Into the Foray of Sim Team Racing

RTB RACING

Having been involved in sim racing doing solo events for many years and having spoken to a number of like minded racers we have decided to take the plunge into team endurance sim racing.

Our plan is to start of small with a number of 3 hour races building upto the 6hour Watkins Glen in June and then building up to the 24hours of Spa in July. The team is made up of enthusiatic sim racers who just want to have fun racing and seeing what the end result will be – no pressure on results its just for fun.

We decided on the Ferrari 296 as our car and the team started its journey with Andy and myself undertaking the weekly 3hour event which was on the Watkins circuit. With Andy qualifying the car in 22nd place the race started and slowly he made his way up to position 8 before the first switch over. My hour stint was pretty uneventful thankfully with setting steady consistent lap times before the final handover took place.

Bringing the car into the pits in 3rd we were overtaken by a few cars that pitted on previous laps and Andy settled into finish the race – with some epic battles against Virtual Veterans Racing before having to make a splash and dash pitstop to cover off the fuel usage. With 3 laps to go Andy caught up with 3rd place but with traffic and laps running out we finally finished P4 in our first team run in our split. This was a great experience and we will be looking to undertake Road America next weekend.

Special thanks to Neko for designing the livery of the car, if you are looking for iracing livery pop along to his Fiverr page and enquire – Link Here
